Radik Atoyan

1954 - 2007
Radik Atoyan:
Mr. Atoyan, born in Shamshadin, Armenia. graduated from Yerevan State University in 1976 having studied economics. But soon after graduation, he turned his attention to his passion - painting.

Son of an Armenian fine art painter, Radik unfortunately lost his father at a very young age and Radik has very little recollection of him. Clearly, however, the artist inherited much of his father’s passion and aptitude for art, which led the budding artist to take up painting at a very early age.

Formal art training comprised mainly of workshops by various American painters. And you can see the strong influence of the French Impressionist in his colorful landscapes. Atayan loved the French art scene very much and you will find many Paris street and French countryside scenes among his paintings.

Though still maturing through mid-career stage of his professional artistic path, Radik already has had numerous gallery exhibitions in Armenia, France and other countries worldwide. And now his work comes to New Hope for an extended stay.

Mr. Atoyan passed away on July 2, 2007, well before his prime. He leaves behind his wife, three children and a legacy of beautiful art.
