Michael Bykov Russian born artist Michael Bykov , was educated as an illustrator, He devoted most of his time to painting from biblical scenes, intimate still life and local landscapes. His art is one of variety, though always representational. It is easy to understand why, not just a mere decoration, Michael’s works have a life of their own. They are truly original, created with sincerity and a deep belief in the power of art. Michael fell in love with art from the very first visit to the Pushkin Museum at the age of 5. It was there that he was first introduced to Russian and Flemish Painter of the 15th and 16th centuries. Soon there after he learned of the French Painters and broadened his love of art. He has spent countless hours studying and copying these great masterpieces to build his skills. Michael’s family later moved to Israel, where he served in the Israel Defense Forces before attending university to study French Literature. After which he attended the WIZO College of Design in Haifa. It was during this time in Israel that he started developing his own painting skills and style. He also studied painting with Israeli artist Jonathan Berger and landscape painter Mr. Marcuson. In 2003 he moved to the US and as he says “became attached” to the local landscape of Bucks County. Now, Michaels enjoys spending his days out in the landscapes he so vividly captures on canvas. He strives to reveal the mystery of nature, cycles of the seasons, and its’ connection to the human existence – it's deep symbolism. He makes his landscapes romantic, more than just impressionistic. Bykov’s works are in many private collections around the world including the U.K., France, Denmark, Russia and of course the U.S. For more information about the art or the artist, please contact: BOI's of New Hope Art Gallery 9 W.
