Willie Crockett

Willie Crockett:
was born on Tangier Island, Virginia and has since spent most of his adult life teaching others about the Chesapeake Bay and its heritage.

Known mainly for his watercolor landscapes, and seascapes, Crockett exhibits in shows locally on the Eastern Shores and in numerous states throughout the South and Mid-Atlantic: Charleston, South Carolina - Southeastern Wildlife Exposition; Virginia Beach, Virginia, Virginia Beach Wildlife Art Show; Easton, Maryland, Eastern Wildfowl Festival; Ocean City Convention Center, Ocean City, Maryland - "The Ward World Championship" festivals in Chincoteague, Virginia, etc. Willie Crockett has presented many demonstrations of his work at Ducks Unlimited dinners and has been chosen "Artist of the Year" by Ducks Unlimited of the Eastern Shore. He has taught classes in watercolor for more than ten years and is a faculty member of Eastern Shore Community College.

Willie speaks with the strong dialect unique to Tangier Island where he was born. He paints with the strength of his life-long, intimate knowledge of the Chesapeake Bay. His paintings are recognized as among the most honest portrayals of the Chesapeake's drama and beauty. Upon meeting Mr. Crockett, you will find that he is a "conversation piece" himself!
